About

Welcome! I'm so glad you're here!

I'm Anne Danahy, the owner, creator, recipe developer, photographer, and dishwasher behind Craving Something Healthy. I'm a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) with a Master's degree in Food and Nutrition Science and more than 25 years of nutrition education and counseling experience. I also wrote The Mediterranean Diet for Two cookbook.

I'm passionate about helping people lower their cholesterol, improve their blood sugar, sleep better, and feel better using the power of food. I also live by the motto “You Are What You Eat” (with a little bit of "Everything in Moderation” sprinkled in).

As a registered dietitian nutritionist, my goal is to inspire people to eat more healthfully, even if it’s one meal or one recipe at a time. I believe the Mediterranean diet and other plant-forward eating patterns have superpowers for healthy aging, menopause, and chronic disease prevention and management (ask me about the research!).

As such, most of my recipes and healthy eating tips are inspired by the Mediterranean diet, which means I try to avoid heavily processed ingredients, and I aim to include lots of plants (fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes, and olive oil) in my recipes.

I live...

In beautiful, sunny Scottsdale, AZ, where I'm grateful to enjoy 330 days of sunshine along with some VERY hot summers, but I'll take that over shoveling snow any day.

I work...

As a juggler, mostly. In addition to writing articles and creating and photographing my recipes for this website, I'm a health and food content writer for health-minded companies. I also work with the media to share evidence-based nutrition information. Read more about my services here.

I eat...

almost anything, but my favorite foods are mushroom risotto, any kind of soup, and dark chocolate.

I hope you find some helpful information and healthy eating inspiration on this website.
